The Lakshmipur district unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has stood beside 10 families affected by a fire in Raipur, Lakshmipur. Each family was given a bundle of corrugated tin and 2,000 taka in cash towards rehabilitation.
Lakshmipur district Jamaat ameer Master Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan handed the assistance to members of the affected families on Monday (September 21) at the Ashhak Byapari house near Basabari bazar in Sonapur union of the upazila.
Also present were Raipur upazila Jamaat secretary advocate Abdul Awal Rasel, assistant secretary and chairman candidate for ward 4 of Sonapur union Abul Kasem, Sonapur union Jamaat ameer Master Idris Mia, and the president of the Dhaka-based Raipur Forum, Maulana Idris Madani, along with local leaders and activists.
While handing over the assistance, Jamaat ameer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan spoke to members of the affected families and asked about their hardship. He gave an assurance that assistance for the rehabilitation of the affected families would continue as far as their means allowed.
Eleven homes and six shops were burned down in a fire in the Basabari bazar area of Sonapur union in Raipur upazila at dawn on September 6. The families lost their homes and businesses and were left destitute.
