GANNI (Meherpur) Representative: Police have recovered a hanging female corpse from Ganni Upazila in Meherpur due to suspected domestic violence and family feuds. The heart-wrenching incident occurred in Hemayetpur village of Ganni Upazila on Thursday (May 10).
The victim, Sweety Khatun (27), wife of Ansar member Ismail Hossain of Gazjita in Hemayetpur village, Ganni Upazila, allegedly committed suicide due to marital disputes. She hanged herself at her residence.
Incharge of Hemayetpur Police Camp, Atul, informed that Ismail Hossain is currently working in Chittagong. He had suspected his wife’s character and restricted her from going out. Sweety, overwhelmed with anger due to the family feud, chose to end her life.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Meherpur 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy.
OC of Ganni Police Station, Uttam Kumar, confirmed the incident. He stated that such incidents occur due to domestic violence and suspicions, creating an alarming situation in society.
