A programme to plant 200 palm seeds has been held in Nawabganj, Dinajpur, to mark the anniversary of a local volunteer organisation. Blood Fighters Team Nawabganj carried out the environmental effort on Sunday morning under the slogan “we have managed it and we will manage it; we will stand beside helpless people with blood”. The main aims of the programme, held to mark the organisation’s fifth anniversary, were to protect the balance of the environment, reduce the risk from lightning strikes and build a green environment for future generations.

Those present included the organisation’s adviser Masud Rana, its admins Rony and Rimon, its moderators Samser, Faisal Kabir and Ayub, and the members Rocky and Nurnabi, along with other members and volunteers. The volunteers taking part said their activity is not limited to blood donation alone, and that the organisation works regularly on protecting the environment and on public welfare more broadly.

The special effort of planting palm seeds on the anniversary came from the thought that one tree means one new life. The organisation announced that social work of various kinds — service to humanity in distress, blood donation activity and environmental protection — would continue at the same pace in future. It also called on people at every level to come forward and plant trees to build a habitable, green future.
