TEHRAN — Fifty-two Iranian ships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz over the past three days despite a U.S. naval blockade, Iran’s state-run Fars news agency reported.

The report, citing satellite tracking data from the three days up to 10 p.m. local time Monday, said the ships included 31 oil tankers and 21 cargo vessels. The ships crossed the strait without encountering any obstruction. The U.S. Navy has not commented on the matter.

The war between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other began on February 28. On March 2, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that the Strait of Hormuz had been closed to shipping.

A temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran was announced on April 8 through Pakistan’s mediation, but talks between the two sides in Islamabad on April 11 did not produce a deal. The United States then imposed a counter-naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz on April 13. On April 21, U.S. President Donald Trump said the ceasefire had been extended at the request of Pakistani mediators. However, the U.S. blockade in the Strait of Hormuz has continued despite the ceasefire.
