The new year is still nearly four months away, but interest in the 2027 calendar is already growing among devout worshippers. In particular, various calculations are under way over when the holy month of Ramadan might begin, and on which day Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be observed.
Based on astronomers’ mathematical calculations, Jordan News has published the likely dates for Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr in the Hijri year 1448. Because the final dates depend on moon sighting, the actual dates for Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr could shift by a day.
According to a report from the Middle Eastern outlet, Saudi Arabia’s official Hijri calendar website has clarified that Ramadan in 1448 AH will fall within the first third of 2027, with the likely start date being February 8. That date falls on a Monday on the calendar.
The report also said the new moon for Ramadan 2027 is expected to be sighted on a Saturday, coinciding with the 29th of Sha’ban 1448. As a result, the eighth month of the Hijri year will run its full 30 days, ending on February 7 (Sunday). Ramadan would then begin the following day, February 8.
On Eid-ul-Fitr 2027, the report said Ramadan in 1448 AH is expected to run 29 days, which would put Eid-ul-Fitr on March 8 (Monday) next year.
