The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced the consumer price of a 12-kilogram liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder by 357 taka, from 1,885 to 1,528 taka.
The new prices took effect at 6 p.m. on Thursday (July 2).
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the revision at a press conference at the commission’s conference room in Ramna. Commission members Md. Mizanur Rahman, Md. Abdur Razzak, and Brigadier General (retired) Shahid Sarwar were present.
Ahmed said the price reduction was based on July’s Saudi contract price (CP) set by Aramco.
Auto gas was also reduced by 16.53 taka per liter, from 86.93 to 70.40 taka. The price of government-supplied LPG remained unchanged at 776.93 taka.
New consumer prices for cylinders of various sizes: 5.5 kg at 700 taka, 12.5 kg at 1,591 taka, 15 kg at 1,910 taka, 16 kg at 2,037 taka, 18 kg at 2,291 taka, 20 kg at 2,546 taka, 22 kg at 2,801 taka, 25 kg at 3,183 taka, 30 kg at 3,819 taka, 33 kg at 4,201 taka, 35 kg at 4,456 taka, and 45 kg at 5,729 taka.
The international benchmark prices were set at $580 per metric ton for propane and $600 per metric ton for butane.
