The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has signed credit-guarantee agreements with 11 commercial banks and one financial company to energize small-enterprise financing and channel banking-sector funds to marginalized communities. Twelve separate agreements were signed under PKSF’s “Credit Enhancement Scheme.” The signing ceremony was held on Monday, July 20, at the PKSF building in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The signatory banks and financial institution are BRAC Bank, City Bank, Prime Bank, NCC Bank, Trust Bank, Southeast Bank, Mercantile Bank, Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Dhaka Bank, Modhumoti Bank, Seemanto Bank and the UAE-Bangladesh Investment Company Limited (UBICO). Under the agreements, in the 2026-27 fiscal year these banks and financial companies will be able to provide a total of 2,800 crore taka in guaranteed loans to PKSF’s partner organizations for their small-enterprise financing.
PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader said the scheme was launched to formally involve commercial banks in PKSF’s effort to turn the country’s low-income people into entrepreneurs. Under it, PKSF’s partner organizations will take loans from banks and distribute them among small entrepreneurs, with PKSF providing the guarantee.
He expressed hope that PKSF’s close monitoring would ensure the proper use of the loans. The scheme will play an important role in channeling banking-sector funds to small and medium entrepreneurs and marginalized communities to ensure inclusive and equitable growth, he added. PKSF Deputy Managing Director Muhammad Hasan Khaled signed for PKSF, and the managing directors or deputy managing directors of the respective institutions signed for the banks and financial firms.
The Credit Enhancement Scheme formally began on July 1, 2025. In its first year, 10 banks and one financial company signed on with PKSF. Of these, six banks and one financial company have already disbursed a total of 1,082 crore taka in the small-enterprise financing of 26 partner organizations.
