Argentina lost the World Cup final 1-0 to Spain after extra time, letting the title slip away. After the match, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni accepted his opponents’ superiority and heaped praise on his own players.

Scaloni did not hide his disappointment but felt his team had given their all on the pitch. “It hurts, but we know we gave everything,” he said. “I have a lot I could say, but there is no point saying it now. I am grateful to these boys.”

The Argentine coach also praised Spain’s performance. “They played better than us,” he said. “I have wonderful memories with these players. We must give Spain the recognition they deserve. You have to show grace in both victory and defeat. We have shown that we know how to lose, too.”
