Five more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. In the same period 1,105 children were infected with measles or with measles symptoms.
The information was given in the Directorate General of Health Services’ updated measles report on Monday afternoon.
The bulletin said five more children had died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours. No child died of confirmed measles, however.
That takes the total number of children who have died with measles symptoms across the country since 15 March to 730. Another 95 children have died of confirmed measles. That is, a total of 825 children have died of measles or with measles symptoms in that period.
In the 24 hours, 113 children were infected with confirmed measles and the number of patients with measles symptoms was 992. In the same period 1,415 children were newly admitted to hospital and 1,000 children were discharged.
Directorate General of Health Services figures show that from 15 March to today the total number of suspected measles patients is 1 lakh 24 thousand 745 and the number of confirmed measles patients is 15 thousand 555. Of them a total of 1 lakh 7 thousand 654 patients were admitted to hospital, and 1 lakh 3 thousand 467 have already been discharged and returned home.
