The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has cut the price of gold in the domestic market. Under the new decision, the price of gold jewellery has been cut by up to 3,266 taka a bhori, including VAT.
The new price took effect from 10am on Friday (7 August). A day earlier, the price of gold had been raised by 9,856 taka a bhori in a single day.
A BAJUS notice said the new price was decided at a meeting of the standing committee on price-setting and price monitoring at 9am on Friday.
Under the new price list, 22-carat gold jewellery, including VAT, has been set at 229,664 taka a bhori (11.664 grams). The previous price was 232,930 taka.
The new price of 21-carat gold is 219,342 taka a bhori. Eighteen-carat gold will sell at 188,374 taka a bhori, and traditional-method gold has been set at 153,848 taka a bhori.
Although the price of gold has fallen, there was no change in the price of silver. A bhori of 22-carat silver is 4,899 taka, 21-carat silver 4,666 taka, 18-carat silver 4,024 taka, and traditional-method silver 3,266 taka a bhori.
