Gold prices cut in the domestic market

The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) has decided to cut gold prices in the domestic market. In its latest adjustment, it lowered the price of a bhori of 22-carat gold by Tk 4,374 to Tk 228,556. The new rate was set after two consecutive price increases and one VAT adjustment.

Bajus gave the information in a notice, with the new prices taking effect from 10 am today.

Under the new rates, a bhori of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 218,292, 18-carat at Tk 187,440 and traditional-method gold at Tk 153,148.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association last adjusted gold prices yesterday, Thursday, morning. That day, VAT of Tk 2,508 was added per bhori of the precious metal, setting the domestic price of a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold, including VAT, at Tk 232,930.

It also set 21-carat at Tk 222,491 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 191,056 and traditional-method gold at Tk 156,064, which took effect from 10 am that day.

With this, gold prices have been adjusted 77 times in the domestic market so far this year — raised 39 times, cut 37 times and with one VAT adjustment. In 2025, gold prices were adjusted a total of 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 cuts.
