A 29-year-old teacher was killed outside a private school in Faridabad, India’s Haryana state, on Tuesday, and police arrested a 21-year-old suspect within two hours, NDTV reported.

The report said the Aug. 4 attack lasted about 30 seconds and that the teacher was stabbed 34 times. She was taken to Al-Falah Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

According to witnesses, people came outside after hearing screams and saw a masked man attacking the teacher with a bladed weapon.

Security camera footage reportedly showed the suspect entering the school and signaling for the teacher to come outside before attacking her repeatedly. He allegedly threatened an administrator who tried to intervene, then fled on a motorcycle without a license plate.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect, a resident of Kot village, had harassed the teacher for some time. She filed a harassment complaint against him several days earlier, after which he publicly apologized, police said.

Investigators alleged that he then planned revenge. Police said the suspect admitted during questioning that he carried out the killing in retaliation.

Police said the investigation into the motive and circumstances of the killing was continuing.
