BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said the government is working with commitment and accountability toward the public despite the country’s various crises. He made the remarks Sunday, August 23, after paying tribute at the mausoleum of BNP founder, the late President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

Rizvi said a major cause of the current crisis is the natural and global situation. The war, he said, has created an energy crisis.

That has affected the country’s gas and LNG supply, he said, leading to a gas shortage in various areas over the past several days, disrupting factory operations in some places. He said the fault at the floating terminal in Moheshkhali has now been fully repaired, LNG cargo has already arrived, and supply is under way.

He said gas pressure, which had fallen in various parts of the country, has risen again, and load-shedding has fallen significantly.

Rizvi further said the government is trying to maintain social protection for the public despite the crisis. To ensure accountability in every one of the government’s actions, he said, the government will also remain accountable to the public through the media.
