Drug dealer arrested with 8,000 yaba tablets in Sreepur

Police in Sreepur, Gazipur, arrested a drug dealer, Abdul Kadir, 50, with roughly 8,000 yaba tablets in a special operation.

He was sent to court Tuesday afternoon, August 18, after legal procedures were completed, and the judge ordered him held in jail custody.

According to Sreepur Model Police Station sources, a special police team led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahinur Alam conducted the operation in the upazila’s Mulaid area, based on a tip-off. During the operation, police searched suspect Abdul Kadir’s movements and recovered roughly 8,000 yaba tablets from him.

The arrested Abdul Kadir is the son of the late Ashraf Ali of Mulaid area, Sreepur upazila. According to police and local sources, he had long been involved in the drug trade in the area.

A regular case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act. He was produced before court Tuesday afternoon under tight security, and the court ordered him sent to jail.
