The Upazila Journalists’ Unity Council, an organisation of journalists in Sharsha upazila of Jashore, has held a special general meeting. The meeting discussed various matters including journalists’ professional development, organisational activities, rights and welfare.
The meeting was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (15 July) at the Biye Bari Community Centre in the Benapole municipal area.
With the organisation’s president, Azizul Haque, in the chair, senior journalist Asaduzzaman Asad, Jamal Hossain, Abdus Salam Gaffar Chhanda, Altaf Mahmud, Enamul Haque, GM Ashraf, Anisur Rahman, Arifur Rahman, Sheikh Nasir Uddin and Shahin Hossain, along with the organisation’s general secretary, Ayub Hossain, spoke at the meeting.
Speakers said that, alongside practising objective, responsible and ethical journalism, journalists would have to work together to build unity among themselves, increase their professional skills and further strengthen the positive role of the media.
