Members of the family of Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho, killed in the July uprising, paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday.
Mugdho’s father, Mir Mostafizur Rahman, his brother Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho and the family member Mahfuza Jafrin Ariba were present at the meeting at Bangabhaban.
The president asked after the family members and exchanged greetings with them.
At the meeting the family members briefed the president on the government’s various steps for the welfare and rehabilitation of the families of those killed in the July uprising and of the injured, and for the treatment of the injured. They asked for the proper implementation of the government’s programmes for the welfare of the families of the dead and the injured.
The family members gave the president a replica of the July martyrs’ memorial, bearing the names of the 845 July martyrs published in the gazette notification.
Paying deep respect and gratitude to those killed and injured in the July uprising of 2024, the president said the nation would never forget the sacrifice of those who gave their lives and were injured in the struggle to free the country from fascism. He gave an assurance that the state’s fullest cooperation would continue for the overall welfare of the families of the dead and for the proper treatment and rehabilitation of the injured.
The president prayed for the souls of the July martyrs and for their eternal peace.
Senior officials of Bangabhaban were present at the meeting.
