RAB-13 has arrested three people, including a woman, in connection with the murder of businessman Abdur Rahman, 60, whose body was found in his auto-rickshaw garage at Ansari Mor in Rangpur city.

The arrests were made in a Friday operation in the metropolitan area. The suspects are Dulal Mia, 45, of East Khasbagh in Mahiganj; Firoza Begum, 55, of Bhotmari village in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat; and Rezaul Islam, 55.

RAB-13 assistant director Biplob Kumar Goswami said the suspects confessed to the killing during preliminary questioning.

Tajhat police station officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam said the three were handed over to the station. “We will seek remand for further interrogation. This appears to be a premeditated murder,” he said.

Local residents found Abdur Rahman’s bloodied body inside his auto-rickshaw garage at Ansari Mor on Thursday afternoon. Abdur Rahman, son of the late Mir Kashem, was a resident of the same area.

Police said assailants entered the garage the previous night, struck Abdur Rahman on the head with a heavy object, then stole the garage’s earnings and his personal cash before padlocking the door from outside and fleeing. The victim’s son Nur filed a murder case.
