Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, blamed the United States for insecurity in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. He said Washington had imposed an unlawful war on Iran and put the entire region at risk.
Speaking during a meeting with China’s ambassador to Tehran, Zhong Peiyu, Rezaei said the Strait of Hormuz would not be opened until the war ended. He also said Iran’s conditions would have to be met before the waterway could reopen.
The comments came amid heightened regional tensions and concerns about shipping through the strategic strait, a major route for global energy supplies.
