Former Chief Justice A B M Khairul Haque, seen as aligned with the Awami League, has been released from jail after bail was upheld in all cases against him.
The Appellate Division’s chamber court upheld the High Court’s bail order in an attempted-murder case filed at Banani police station. On the state’s petition, the court issued a “no order,” declining to intervene.
It may be recalled that A B M Khairul Haque was arrested from his home in Dhanmondi, the capital, on July 24 last year. He was subsequently shown as arrested in various murder and attempted-murder cases connected to the July mass uprising.
