Advanced ballistic missiles and suicide drones are being built deep underground in Iran. Iran’s armed forces chief, Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi, has toured one such secret military production facility. According to a report Saturday, August 22, citing the country’s state news agency, he issued a stern warning during the visit, saying: “The enemy should know that they cannot win by fighting against the will of a nation.”
According to a report by Iran’s Mizan News Agency, Gen. Abdollahi toured the underground factory in the presence of the country’s acting defense minister, Brig. Gen. Ebn-e Reza. There, he was briefed on the overall progress of weapons production using Iran’s own domestic technology. The report offered, for the first time, detailed information about the missile production process during what it described as the imposed war’s third round.
Praising the modernization and speed of the military industry, Gen. Abdollahi said the Defense Ministry now shows nothing but tireless labor and a drive for progress. Through the efforts of its workers and officials, he said, higher-quality military equipment is being produced today than at any point in the past. Alongside improved quality, he said, the speed of domestic drone and missile production has also been multiplied several times over. Suicide-drone production capacity in particular, he said, has tripled compared with before.
According to the report, this vast underground complex produces cruise and ballistic missiles, satellites, satellite-launch vehicles and other military equipment. Years of tireless work in laboratories and on production lines, the report said, have made Iran one of the world’s leading drone and missile powers today. Before the revolution, it said, about 90 percent of Iran’s defense needs depended on imports; those needs are now being met entirely through domestic technology.
