Six Bangladeshi nationals have been detained under “Operation Vista 1.0” (visa status verification), run by the Foreigner Cell of the Central District Special Staff in India.

They were detained on Sunday (2 August) for violating the conditions of their double-entry visas, Indian officials said.

Officials said the six foreign nationals had stayed in India beyond the maximum 15 days permitted per visit under their double-entry visas. The violation came to light during a special verification drive at various hotels and guesthouses in the Central District.

After their passports, visas and travel documents were checked, legal proceedings began through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The FRRO issued a “restriction order” against them. The six were then transferred to a detention centre at Seva Dham, where they will remain until the deportation process is completed.

The Foreigner Cell of the Central District Special Staff launched “Operation Vista 1.0” as part of an ongoing enforcement drive against foreign nationals violating visa rules. The main aim was to identify foreign nationals staying in Delhi after their visas had expired or in breach of visa conditions and to take appropriate legal action.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Central District Special Staff in-charge Inspector Sandeep Yadav and the supervision of ACP (Operations) Padam Singh Rana.

During the operation, a Foreigner Cell team conducted extensive searches at various hotels and guesthouses in the Central District. The six Bangladeshi nationals were found during an inspection at a hotel on Arakashan Road in Nabi Karim.

Under questioning, the six said they had entered India on valid double-entry visas and were staying at the “Sarthak Place” hotel in central Delhi. But a check of their passports, visas and immigration records showed that their visas permitted a stay of a maximum of 15 days per visit, and that they had stayed in India beyond this limit without any valid approval or extension from the appropriate authority.

After verifying the documents and immigration records, the FRRO took action under the applicable provisions on visa violations and the stay of foreign nationals in India. The six were ordered to be sent to the Seva Dham detention centre at Shahzada Bagh, Sarai Rohilla, in Delhi, and the legal process for their deportation is currently under way.
