A member of India’s Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has shot dead four colleagues after an argument in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident happened at around 6:30pm on Tuesday (September 29) at a CISF unit deployed at the Sewa power project in Mashka village, Basohli. Head constable Awadhesh Kumar Singh is reported to have opened fire with his service AK-47 rifle after an altercation with officers.
The dead are assistant commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, sub-inspector Laxman Singh, constable Rafiq Ahmed and constable Sandeep Kumar. All four died while being treated at the NHPC hospital in Himachal Pradesh.
Police cordoned off the area and detained Awadhesh Kumar Singh. The CISF said his service rifle and 150 rounds of ammunition were seized. The authorities have begun an investigation into the cause and details of the attack.
