Spain’s football team has returned home after winning the 2026 World Cup. After arriving in Madrid on Monday afternoon, the world champions were feted with a formal royal reception, a welcome at the prime minister’s office and an open-top-bus champions’ parade along the capital’s main streets, joined by Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Ferran Torres and their teammates.

The team’s first stop was Zarzuela Palace, where King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and members of the royal family welcomed the world champions. “This title is not just one team’s achievement; it is the pride of all Spain,” King Felipe said.

The team then went to Moncloa Palace, where Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez congratulated the players and coaching staff and thanked them for winning the World Cup. After the formalities, the long-awaited champions’ parade began around 7 p.m. Luis de la Fuente’s players circled the capital’s main streets on an open-top bus, as thousands of supporters lining both sides greeted the world champions with applause, flags and chants.

The parade’s final stop was the historic Cibeles Square, where about 2 million supporters had gathered, according to the organizers. Lights, music and cultural performances turned the whole area festive, and the players took the stage to share the joy of the win with fans.

On the celebration stage, Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente said: “Being the coach of this team is the greatest pride of my life. Two years ago I said we are strongest when we are together. Today I saw that belief reflected.”

The celebrations will not end with the Madrid reception. Receptions and victory festivities in honor of the team have been arranged in various Spanish cities over the coming days.
