Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman, a leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and a former army officer.
He was taken into custody from his home in the Dhaka Cantonment area on Friday evening, DMP detective chief Shafiqul Islam said.
Earlier, a case was filed against him accusing him of creating disorder at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, obstructing officials in their duties and assaulting a security officer on duty. Airport security officer Md Shahriar Alam Sajib filed the case with Airport police station on Friday.
