Citizens Bank signs agreement with Bangladesh Bank

Citizens Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank’s Agricultural Credit Department-2, under the “Refinancing Scheme for the Agriculture and Rural Sector,” at Bangladesh Bank’s head office.

Alamgir Hossain, managing director of Citizens Bank PLC, and A K M Saidujjaman, director of Agricultural Credit Department-2 at Bangladesh Bank, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. Also present at the signing were Citizens Bank Deputy Managing Director Md Abdul Latif, Senior Vice President and Head of SME and Marketing Bijoy Chandra Das, Bangladesh Bank Agricultural Credit Department-2 Additional Director Rafia Sultana, and other officials from both institutions.

Under the agreement, agricultural entrepreneurs working with Citizens Bank will be able to access low-interest loans under Bangladesh Bank’s refinancing scheme. By joining the refinancing scheme, Citizens Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the country’s agricultural sector, rural development, and sustainable economic growth.

Under the agreement, agricultural entrepreneurs affiliated with Citizens Bank will be able to access loans at concessional interest rates through Bangladesh Bank’s refinancing scheme. The initiative will create affordable financing opportunities for agricultural entrepreneurs and rural-based institutions, helping them expand their businesses, boost production capacity, and create new employment, particularly in rural areas. By ensuring easier access to financing, the facility will play an important role in driving sustainable growth in the agricultural sector and rural economic activity.
