Turkish investors’ interest in Bangladesh is on the rise. Many Turkish investors have visited Bangladesh to explore investment opportunities and gain insights into the local market. This information was shared in a statement issued on Thursday by the Public Relations Department of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).

The statement said that during a meeting with BIDA’s Executive Chairman, Ashiq Chowdhury, Bangladesh’s newly appointed Turkish Ambassador, Ramis Sen, specifically highlighted the growing interest of Turkish investors in Bangladesh. The meeting discussed strengthening business ties between the two countries and strategies to encourage Turkish institutions to invest in Bangladesh. It also focused on ways to advance ongoing investment interests through more effective engagement.

Ambassador Ramis Sen emphasized the need for closer communication between business communities in both countries, suggesting that government and private-sector visits could play a crucial role. He mentioned significant industrial regions in Turkey, such as Gaziantep, Denizli, and Kocaeli-Izmit, indicating their potential for collaboration in various sectors, including textiles.

The meeting also discussed Bangladesh’s existing legal framework for investments. It highlighted the success stories of Turkish companies like Igas and Archilic’s partner institution Singer Bangladesh Limited, which have invested in Bangladesh. BIDA also mentioned its ongoing work with several other Turkish firms interested in exploring investment opportunities in the country.

BIDA’s Executive Chairman, Ashiq Chowdhury, stated that Turkey is a significant market for Bangladesh, both in trade and direct foreign investment. He added that existing opportunities and mutual benefits between the two countries could further enhance investment and trade volumes. Chowdhury also suggested that by identifying priority sectors, BIDA’s Turkey Desk, the Turkish Embassy in Bangladesh, and relevant stakeholders could work together to facilitate investment.
