Max Group will make a major investment in Bangladesh’s solar power sector, citing its vast potential and growth prospects.
The announcement was made by Max Group Chairman Engineer Golam Mohammad Alamgir at the “Astronergy and World Future 2026 – Bangladesh Roadshow,” held Thursday at an upscale hotel in Dhaka and organized by China-based solar photovoltaic company Astronergy.
He said the Bangladesh government is currently giving serious consideration to solar power, with strong government-level discussions underway to expand the use of environmentally friendly technologies such as rooftop solar and solar irrigation nationwide. In line with this, the government has set a target of generating 10,000 megawatts of solar power within the next five years. To take part in this massive solar power market, Max Group has ordered equipment worth 200 million taka, which is expected to arrive in the country soon.
He further said Max Group has decided to work jointly with international solar company Blue Carbon on this initiative, which will be introduced to Bangladesh’s solar market as “Max Blue Carbon.” He said Max Group has long experience working in the power sector, currently operating a 165-megawatt gas-based combined cycle power plant and also working as an EPC contractor. The chairman also said Max has successfully installed roughly 2.5 megawatts of solar capacity at its own factory without any storage or battery system.
On Chinese technology and quality, the Max Group chairman said buyers of good-quality Chinese products never have a bad experience. He said the company has long and positive experience working with Chinese partners on major EPC contracts in rail and road projects and other business sectors, adding that choosing reputable Chinese companies consistently ensures excellent quality of work. He invited those interested in the solar power sector to place their trust in Astronergy and the upcoming “Max Blue Carbon” venture.
At the event, attended by the Max Group chairman and leading figures from Bangladesh’s industrial and renewable energy sectors, Astronergy unveiled its new solar module, the “N7 Pro.”
The event also featured recognition of various organizations and representatives for their contributions to Astronergy’s growth, in categories including best distributor, strategic partner, and best solar project, along with the signing of a strategic agreement to further strengthen cooperation prospects in Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector.
