A 4.5-magnitude earthquake has struck the Bay of Bengal, causing tremors in parts of Visakhapatnam and districts adjoining Andhra Pradesh in India. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services reported the information. No casualties or other damage were reported from the earthquake.
Parts of the coastal city of Visakhapatnam shook at around 5:05 a.m. on Sunday (July 12). The tremors were felt in Gajuwaka, Mangalapalem, Sagar Nagar, Pedda Waltair, Arilova, MVP Colony, Appughar and other areas.
The National Center for Seismology said the earthquake struck at 5:05:46 a.m. Indian time at a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was in the Bay of Bengal, about 225 kilometers from the Kakinada coast.
Tremors were also reported in parts of Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Kakinada and Konaseema districts.
