Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has begun official duties at Bangabhaban for the first time since being sworn in. The president arrived at Bangabhaban at 11 a.m. Sunday, where a smartly turned-out mounted unit of the Bangladesh Police welcomed him at Main Gate 2. A smart contingent of the Bangladesh Army’s President’s Guard Regiment (PGR) then gave the president a guard of honor at the Credential Ground.
After the guard of honor, the president’s military secretary, Maj. Gen. A S M Bahauddin; the secretary of the public administration wing, A J M Salahuddin Nagari; press secretary Sarwar Alam; and PGR commander Brig. Gen. Golam Ariqul Alam welcomed the president and his family members with flowers at Bangabhaban’s Octagonal building.
On his first day in office at Bangabhaban, the president remained in his office chamber, signing official documents. He then signed the visitors’ book.
