Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the proposed cyber security law is not intended to harass the media. He made the comment at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, on Sept. 26, Prime Minister’s Information Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said media literacy is needed to ensure public protection and stop misinformation. He said the proposed cyber security law has not yet been finally passed, and there is scope to change and amend it.
Zahed Ur Rahman said, “A cyber security law is needed that will protect the country’s people. At the same time, effective steps are needed to stop misinformation from spreading online. In this case, emphasis must be placed on increasing media literacy, or awareness related to the media, among people.”
