A total of 654 private independent technical institutions in the country have been granted permission to run classes six to eight under the lower-secondary (vocational) curriculum. Institutions that have not yet collected their permission letters have also been instructed to complete the necessary process and obtain them quickly.

The information came in a notice from the Bangladesh Technical Education Board on Thursday (16 July).

The notice said that, in line with a 2 February letter from the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the education ministry, 654 unapproved private independent technical education institutions offering SSC (Vocational)/Dakhil (Vocational) had been given initial permission to run the lower-secondary (vocational) curriculum for classes six to eight from the 2025 academic year. It added that institutions which had not yet collected the permission letter for lower-secondary (vocational) teaching must first submit a letter to the chairman informing him of their capacity to run the classes, after which they were requested to collect a copy of the institution-specific teaching permission letter from the relevant branch.
