The body of a local Krishak Dal (farmers’ party) leader who was killed in an attack was exhumed two months after burial in Pakundiya, Kishoreganj, on Thursday.
Saddam Hosen, 32, the general secretary of Narandi Union Krishak Dal and son of Ali Akbar from Chhota Azoldi village, was exhumed from the family cemetery on a court order.
According to the case file and local sources, Saddam was attacked by assailants with sharp weapons while returning home from his business on the night of September 12, 2025. He was found critically injured by locals and admitted to hospital.
His wife Karishma Akter Jhuma filed a case at Pakundiya police station on September 26, 2025, while he was still receiving treatment. Saddam died on May 2 this year after prolonged treatment. His body had been buried without an autopsy.
The court ordered the exhumation for a proper investigation and to determine the exact cause of death. The body was sent to the morgue at Kishoreganj Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Pakundiya upazila Krishak Dal president Shamshul Haque Mithu said: “Saddam was a promising and clean leader who played an active role in the anti-fascism movement. We are deeply grieved by the barbaric attack on him and his subsequent death. We demand the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved.”
Executive Magistrate Rifat Jahan said the exhumation was carried out on court orders in the interest of a proper investigation.
