An Mi-17 helicopter of the Pakistan Army’s aviation wing has crashed, killing all on board. The country’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the information in a statement, according to Dawn.

The statement said the helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad on Wednesday because of a technical fault during take-off. Rescuers reached the site quickly. All those aboard were killed, though the ISPR gave no information on how many people were on the helicopter or who they were. The ISPR said an investigation board has been ordered to establish the exact cause of the accident.

The statement added that the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, together with all ranks of the army, expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of life and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
