Damurhuda police in Chuadanga have arrested a young man with yaba and cannabis. When he was produced in court, the court sentenced him to one month’s simple imprisonment. In a separate drive on the same day, police also arrested an accused named in a warrant.
The drive was conducted at Joyrampur Malitha Para on Friday night, July 24, led by SI Mahabul Haque, under the direction of the district superintendent of police, Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan, and the supervision of the officer-in-charge (OC) of Damurhuda model police station, Sheikh Mesbah Uddin.
During the drive a young man named Md Toton, 24, was detained on a charge of taking drugs in front of a house and creating a disturbance. A search of his person then recovered one piece of yaba and one packet of cannabis, police said.
When the detained Toton was sent to the senior judicial magistrate’s court for a summary trial, the judge ordered one month’s simple imprisonment, a fine of 500 taka, and four more days’ imprisonment in default of payment of the fine.
Meanwhile, in a separate drive led by ASI Md Ibrahim Hossain of the Daliarpur police camp, an accused named in a CR warrant, Md Liton Mia, was arrested from Chhutipur village.
Police said both of those arrested have been sent to jail through the court.
