Police have arrested three people with 27 yaba tablets in Chuadanga’s Damurhuda. The drive was carried out at around 11:30pm on Wednesday (5 August) in the Baghadanga Natunpara area of the upazila.
The arrested are Kalim Uddin, alias Kalu (40), Sajid Hasan (28) and Ashiqur Rahman (24).
According to police, sub-inspector (SI) Sabuj Uddin, posted at the Karpasdanga camp, learned from secret information that several people were positioned in front of Oxford Solar Technology in the Baghadanga Natunpara area to buy and sell yaba. A drive was then carried out there and three people detained.
In the presence of witnesses, a search recovered 27 yaba tablets kept in a blue zip-lock polythene bag from Kalim Uddin. The yaba was seized and taken to the police station.
Police claim that in initial questioning the detainees admitted they had collected and sold yaba from various places in cooperation with one another. The charges are yet to be tested in court.
A case has been filed at Damurhuda Model Police Station under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
Damurhuda Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Mesbah Uddin said three people had been arrested with yaba and later sent to jail through the court.
