Event highlights financial literacy, career awareness for young people

The Khulna University Career Club organized an event titled “Financial Inclusion: Engaging and Inspiring Youth in Banking.” The event emphasized raising awareness among young people about financial inclusion, sound money management, independent financial decision-making, saving habits and future career planning. The information was shared in a press release from Prime Bank.

Khulna University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Rezaul Karim spoke as chief guest. He said advances in information technology have created far greater opportunities than before for students in higher education, research and career-building, and that students need to use these opportunities to develop their skills and build their future careers. He thanked the Khulna University Career Club and Prime Bank for organizing the event.

M M Mahbub Hasan, the bank’s senior vice president and head of financial inclusion and school banking, delivered the keynote address, covering various aspects of financial literacy and smart money management. He said young people need to build healthy financial habits, emphasizing balancing income and expenses, saving regularly, making conscious financial decisions and maintaining long-term financial discipline. He also introduced the “grandfather concept of personal money management” for personal finance.

In his remarks as special guest, the university’s director of student affairs, Professor Dr. Md Salauddin, said the banking sector needs more effective and up-to-date initiatives to reduce customer hassle. He said such events play an important role in giving students an understanding of the real-world workplace and financial sector while preparing them for their future careers.

Monowara Khatun, the bank’s vice president and head of talent acquisition, conducted mock interviews with student participants. Mostafa Mahmud, the bank’s vice president and regional head (south), delivered the opening remarks.

The seminar included mock interviews, a career discussion and a question-and-answer session. The best participants in these sessions were awarded prizes by Prime Bank. Ruhul Amin Munna, president of the Khulna University Career Club, delivered the closing remarks.
