A DO letter has been produced by forging the signature, official pad, government logo and reference number of the Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, and submitted to various ministries and offices in an attempt to obtain improper favours.
After the matter came to the notice of the Jatiya Sangsad authorities, a strong protest and a warning have been issued.
The information was given in a notice from the parliament secretariat on Monday, 27 July.
In it the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat stated clearly that the letter circulated and submitted was not issued by the Jatiya Sangsad and that the Jatiya Sangsad has no connection of any kind with it. Using the name, logo, pad or any other official identity of the Jatiya Sangsad — one of the state’s most important institutions — through forgery in order to create confusion in the public mind is a serious criminal offence.
The parliament secretariat said the authorities concerned had already been directed to take the necessary legal action against those involved as soon as the matter came to notice.
The parliament secretariat has requested that special caution be exercised to prevent forgery of this kind in future. Any authority receiving a DO or official letter in the name of the Jatiya Sangsad has been urged to contact the responsible branch of the parliament secretariat directly to confirm the letter’s authenticity.
The parliament secretariat authorities have asked the general public, all government and private institutions, the media and everyone concerned to remain alert on the matter.
