Dengue kills three, hospitalizes 805 in 24 hours

Three people died of dengue in the past 24 hours, while 805 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.

The information was disclosed in a dengue press release issued Sunday by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services. It said that among patients hospitalized with dengue in the past 24 hours, 401 were in Dhaka division, 65 in Mymensingh division, 82 in Chattogram division, 97 in Khulna division, seven in Rangpur division, 80 in Barishal division, and two in Sylhet division. As of August 16 this year, a total of 23,978 people have been hospitalized nationwide with dengue.

Three people died of dengue in the past 24 hours, bringing this year’s total dengue death toll to 70.

A total of 22,159 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far this year. Currently, 1,749 patients remain under treatment.

From January 1 to December 31, 2025, a total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue, with 413 deaths recorded.

From January to December 31, 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue, with 575 deaths. From January 1 to December 31, 2023, a total of 1,705 people died of dengue, while 321,179 people were hospitalized with the disease.
