Two people have died of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, and 391 more have been admitted to hospital in the same period.
The information was given in a dengue press release from the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday.
It said that of those infected with dengue in the past 24 hours (from 8 a.m. on Tuesday to 8 a.m. on Wednesday), 70 were admitted to hospital in Barisal division, 53 in Chattogram division, 64 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporations), 47 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 49 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 72 in Khulna division, 16 in Mymensingh division, 12 in Rajshahi division, 6 in Rangpur division and 2 in Sylhet division.
The Directorate said a total of 9,370 people had been infected with dengue so far this year, of whom 61 percent were male and 39 percent female.
According to its data, the two deaths in the past 24 hours took this month’s dengue death toll to 12. The highest number of deaths so far has been in June, with 13, while there were two deaths in January, two in February and one in May.
