The benchmark index of the country’s main bourse, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell on the week’s last trading day. Most companies’ share prices also declined. Turnover, however, exceeded 1,147 crore taka.
According to the DSE, 411,801,570 shares and mutual-fund units of 392 companies changed hands on Thursday (6 August). At day’s end, total turnover stood at 1,147.74 crore taka. Of the companies that traded, 88 shares and units gained, 263 fell and 41 remained unchanged.
At day’s end, the DSE’s benchmark index, the DSEX, was down 33.17 points from the previous session at 5,860.96. The DS-30 index fell 9.90 points to 2,191.85, and the DSE Shariah index (DSES) fell 5.27 points to 1,180.71.
The top 10 companies by turnover were Shinepukur Ceramics, Sena Insurance, ACME Pesticides, Summit Alliance Port, Malek Spinning, Saiham Textile, Beximco Limited, Far East Knitting, Munnu Fabrics and Baraka Patenga Power.
The top 10 gainers were Nitol Insurance, Samata Leather, Prime Finance First Mutual Fund, Dhaka Insurance, BD Autocars, Sonargaon Textiles, ML Dyeing, Islami Insurance, United Finance and Sonar Bangla Insurance.
The top losers were Sena Insurance, Premier Leasing, Shinepukur Ceramics, CNA Textile, Queen South Textile, ICB Sonali Bank First Mutual Fund, Argon Denims, AIBL First Islamic Mutual Fund, Newline Clothing and ICB First Agrani Bank Mutual Fund.
At day’s end, the DSE’s market capitalisation stood at 707,914.69 crore taka.
