Bangladesh deputy mission in Kolkata marks July Uprising Day

The second anniversary of “July Uprising Day” has been observed at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. Paying deep tribute to those killed in the July 2024 uprising, the Deputy High Commission arranged a day of programmes on Wednesday. The day began with the hoisting of the national flag on the mission premises by Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner Md Khaled.

A discussion was held in the mission’s Bangladesh Gallery. In his chief guest’s remarks, Deputy High Commissioner Mohammad Khaled highlighted the spirit of the July uprising, its significance and various matters relevant to nation-building. Consular (political) and chancery head Ayesha Akter gave the welcome address.

Messages from the president, prime minister, foreign minister and state minister for foreign affairs were read out at the event. Several documentaries based on the July-August uprising were then screened. First secretary (consular) Mohammad Zillur Rahman and Sonali Bank deputy general manager Md Rashiduzzaman Ranju also took part in the discussion.
