A 32-year-old Iraqi man has been arrested on charges of plotting to kill Ivanka Trump, the daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump, after allegedly training with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to a report from Al Arabiya citing the New York Post. The plot was framed as revenge for the 2020 U.S. strike that killed Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani.

The report identified the suspect as Mohammed Baqir Saad Dawood al-Saadi. It said he had “vowed” to kill Ivanka Trump and was found in possession of a layout of her home in Florida.

The New York Post said al-Saadi was targeting members of the Trump family to avenge Soleimani, the former head of Iran’s Quds Force, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Baghdad in 2020.

Entifadh Qanbar, a former deputy military attaché at the Iraqi embassy in Washington, said al-Saadi had spoken of killing Ivanka Trump after Soleimani’s death. The report said al-Saadi had also posted a threatening message in Arabic along with a map of a residential area in Florida where Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner live.

Al-Saadi was arrested in Turkey on May 15 and later transferred to the United States. He is accused of involvement in 18 attacks or attempted attacks in Europe and the United States. The report described him as an alleged operative of Kataib Hezbollah and Iran’s IRGC. He is also linked to attacks on American and Jewish targets in Amsterdam, London, Toronto, Belgium and the Netherlands. The New York Post said al-Saadi used a travel agency as cover for international travel and contacts with militant networks.

The White House did not immediately comment on the report, and al-Saadi’s lawyer also declined to comment.
