The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a cut in gold prices in the domestic market for the third time in a row. The price of gold jewellery has fallen by up to Tk 2,216 per bhori, including VAT.
The new prices took effect at 10am on Tuesday. BAJUS announced them earlier in a press release, saying the decision was taken at a meeting of its standing committee on pricing and price monitoring at 9am on Tuesday.
Under the new price list, 22-carat gold jewellery costs Tk 228,556 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT, down from Tk 230,772 on Monday (September 28).
Twenty-one-carat gold now costs Tk 218,292 per bhori and 18-carat gold Tk 187,440, while the traditional-method gold price has been set at Tk 153,148.
Silver prices have also been cut. Twenty-two-carat silver now costs Tk 4,316 per bhori, 21-carat Tk 4,141, 18-carat Tk 3,558 and traditional-method silver Tk 2,683.
