The regulatory body, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), has cut the price of jet fuel (Jet A-1) used in aircraft by Tk 19 per liter. The reduced price, inclusive of duty and VAT, applies to domestic flights.

The price has also been cut by $0.13 per liter for international flights operated by domestic and foreign airlines.

BERC disclosed the information in a press release on Tuesday.

The new prices take effect from midnight tonight.

According to the notice, the price of Jet A-1 fuel for domestic airlines has been reduced by Tk 19.22 from Tk 150.21 per liter to Tk 130.99.

For international airlines, the price has been cut by $0.13 from $0.9808 per liter to $0.8556.

BERC said the price was set based on the average Platts rate in the international market from June 5 to July 4.

Following proposals from Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited (POCL), BERC held a public hearing today under sections 34(4) and 34(6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003.

At the hearing, BERC set the price for July taking into account the detailed Platts rate for Jet A-1 fuel from June 5 to July 4, alongside the US dollar exchange rate used in settling Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation’s letters of credit (LC).
