Zisan Pradhan, former president of the Cumilla district west branch of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir and the organization’s central assistant international affairs secretary, has gone missing. He has not been traced since offering Isha prayers at the Daudkandi Model Mosque on Thursday night.
According to family and organization sources, the last activity on his WhatsApp account was seen until 8:29 p.m. on Thursday night. His mobile phone has been switched off since then. Family members, relatives and party leaders and workers have tried to reach him through various means but found no trace of him.
Over the incident, Zisan Pradhan’s elder brother, advocate Rasel Ahmed, has filed a written complaint at the Daudkandi Model Police Station.
Advocate Rasel Ahmed said: “He was supposed to return home on Thursday night. But his mobile phone has been switched off since the Isha prayers. His Facebook account also appears to be deactivated. We have filed a complaint at the police station. He has not been traced so far.”
Engineer Mizanur Rahman Arif, president of the Daudkandi upazila youth division, said: “Zisan came from Dhaka to Daudkandi on Thursday and offered Isha prayers at the Model Mosque. He was then supposed to go to his home in Birbagagoyali village in his upazila. But he never reached home. We are seeking the full cooperation of the administration.”
The investigating officer (inspector) of the Daudkandi Model Police Station, Md. Samsul Alam Pradhan, said: “We have received a written complaint. The matter is being investigated with importance. Efforts are under way to determine his whereabouts.”
The disappearance has caused anxiety among the family and party leaders and workers.
