A 250-bed private hospital has been inaugurated in Chougacha, Jessore, with Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Goni saying the facility would open a new chapter in healthcare for the southwestern region.
“This hospital will be an open healthcare center for rich and poor alike,” Nasimul Goni said at the inauguration ceremony and scientific seminar for the Dr. Anisuzzaman Hospital on Friday afternoon.
“People of this region will no longer need to go abroad for treatment. Affordable, quality healthcare can now be ensured at the upazila level,” he said.
The ceremony was chaired by the hospital’s managing director Hasanuzzaman Rahin. Among those present were Jessore District Commissioner Mohammad Asheq Hasan, Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr. Masud Rana, and Chougacha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Islam.
Speakers said the new hospital would significantly improve local healthcare delivery and reduce pressure on existing medical facilities. Residents said they previously had to travel to the district headquarters or outside the country for advanced treatment.
