Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has launched an awareness campaign in the border areas of Chuadanga and Meherpur to strengthen border security and prevent push-ins.

On Sunday, August 23, the Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) used loudspeaker announcements in various border areas to alert local residents.

According to BGB sources, the campaign is being carried out to raise awareness among local residents to prevent push-ins, illegal entry and unauthorized border crossings. Border residents were also urged to work in coordination with BGB to prevent smuggling and drug trafficking.

During the campaign, local residents were told that if they spot any unfamiliar or suspicious individual, group or activity, they should not take any action themselves, and should instead quickly inform the nearest BGB border outpost (BOP).

Residents were also urged to help ensure the safety of anyone who enters the border area after being pushed in, and to cooperate with BGB in following the proper legal process for them.

6 BGB said that awareness and cooperation from border residents are important in preventing push-ins, illegal entry, smuggling and drug trafficking at the border. Toward that end, it said, regular patrols and surveillance will be strengthened, alongside continued public-awareness activities.

Lt. Col. Md Nazmul Hasan, director and commanding officer of Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB), disclosed this information in a press release.
