A 16-year-old student died after an electrical fault caused the metal grill of a house to become live in Bhangbariya Union, Alamdanga upazila, Chuadanga, on Thursday (June 25) at around 12:30pm. Family members rushed him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctor in the emergency department confirmed he had died before arrival. The doctor said the family reported that he had touched the grill and received an electric shock. Locals said a leaking electric wire had caused the metalwork to become energized.

The student was in his final year at Bhogail-Bogadi Secondary School and had been awaiting his SSC (Secondary School Certificate) examination results this year.

In a separate incident the same afternoon, farmer Nazmul Hossain, 25, son of Jasim Uddin of Rudranagar village, Damurhuda upazila, was killed by a lightning strike while plowing a field with a power tiller. The officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Model Police Station, Mezbah Uddin, confirmed the incident and said legal proceedings were under way.
