Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push four individuals across the border in the Chapatala area of the Mahespur border in Jhenaidah. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The four individuals are currently positioned approximately 150 yards inside Indian territory.

Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman of BGB’s Jhenaidah 58 Battalion said BSF members from the Mahendra camp opened a gate near border pillar 61/12 around noon and attempted to push four people across. The group includes two men, one woman, and one child.

A patrol team from the Kusumpur border outpost noticed the attempt and blocked it. The four individuals then took position in a banana grove approximately 150 yards inside Indian territory, where they currently remain. Bangladesh has lodged a strong protest and formally notified the BSF of the incident.
