Bangladeshi applicants awaiting family-based green cards in the United States have received major progress in the August visa bulletin. Visa prospects have advanced significantly in the F2A category of family-based immigrant visas.
The F2A category covers spouses and unmarried children under 21 of US lawful permanent residents, or green card holders.
According to the US State Department’s August 2026 visa bulletin, the F2A category’s “final action date” has moved forward from January 1, 2025, to July 22, 2026 — a major shift in the cutoff date within just one month.
This change creates an opportunity for Bangladeshi applicants with a priority date before July 22, 2026, to move forward with immigrant visa issuance or the related process.
Under US State Department rules, the visa bulletin’s “final action date” determines which applicants, by priority date, can be issued visas. According to the National Visa Center, an applicant’s priority date must be current for numerically limited family-based visa categories in order to schedule an interview.
As a result, August’s progress is being seen as welcome news for Bangladeshi families who have been waiting a long time.
